Linda Fleisher, MPH

Ms. Fleisher is the Senior Director of the Health Communications and Public Health Program at FCCC including the Atlantic Region Office of NCI's Cancer Information Service, Fox Chase's Resource Education Center, and other cancer control programs and initiatives. She has over 25 years of experience in health education, health communications and cancer control interventions and research. The FCCC's Resource and Education Center (REC) was developed under her leadership and is a multi-media patient/public education program which provides state-of-the art information and referral, as well as serving as a health communications research laboratory. Her interests focus on the integration of service and research bridging the fields of health communications and public health. A variety of projects, many in collaboration with Dr. Miller 's Behavioral Research Program, have employed innovative approaches to bring the latest cancer information to patients and those at risk including the DOD-funded research pilot, Facilitating Breast and Ovarian Cancer Risk Counseling (1999-2002), a web-based intervention and data gathering system and the NCI-funded Understanding the Use of the Internet for Newly Diagnosed Cancer Patients (2001-2002), a descriptive study to examine how newly diagnosed cancer patients use Internet based information. Current projects address traditional and e-health approaches to cancer education:, Navigating Cancer Patients, Pennsylvania Cancer Education Network, and the CIS Research Consortium's Virtual CIS for cancer patients. She has co-authored a number of health communication tools (print and new media) and numerous publications on various cancer control and health communications topics and projects. She is also a member of the Healthy People 2010 Health Communications Working Group and the CIS's National Dissemination Work Group.
